Where to Ride

Check out our Epic Cycling Routes.

Every ride starts at our door at 950 Lakeshore Drive West, on Okanagan Beach, so you do not need a car, a bike rack or a trailhead parking spot. Distances are round trip from the shop, and times assume an easy e-bike pace with stops.

Before you Ride

Trail Status

The KVR from Penticton past Little Tunnel and the Adra Tunnel to Chute Lake is open. Until late fall 2026, cyclists take a short signed bypass around bridge work at Robinson Creek, before the Adra Tunnel.

The KVR on snpink’tn land toward Summerland and along Skaha Lake to Kaleden has been closed since June 10, 2026 for rockfall and sinkholes, with no reopening date. None of these routes use it, and the channel path is open.

On The Trail

Pedal-assist e-bikes like ours are welcome on the whole Naramata section. Riders must be 16 or older, and helmets are the law in BC; one comes with every rental.

North of Little Tunnel, expect sandy stretches and the odd ATV or dirt bike. Keep right, say hello when you pass walkers, and give horses room.

Heat and Smoke

Penticton is one of the driest cities in Canada. Carry more water than you think you need and start early in July and August.

On smoky days, check the air quality; we move bookings when the smoke rolls in. Most tasting rooms close at 5 pm.

FAQ

About 3.5 km. Ride east along Lakeshore Drive and up Vancouver Avenue to the trailhead at Vancouver Place, under ten minutes on an e-bike.

Little Tunnel is about 19 km from our shop. Plan on 1.5 hours up at an easy pace, an hour back down, and 3.5 to 4.5 hours in total with photo and brewery stops.

A fit rider who leaves at 9 am and skips the stops can do it in four hours, but it is tight. Book the full day and enjoy the wineries on the way back.

Yes, on a full-day e-bike rental. The lodge is about 45 km up the KVR from our shop, with nearly 900 m of climbing on the way there and a mostly downhill ride home. Start at 9 am, ride the climb in Eco, and plan on about 3.5 hours up and 2.5 back. Bring a light for the Adra Tunnel. The lodge has bike racks and packs picnic lunches; call ahead to check the kitchen is open.

The Naramata side is open: Penticton to Naramata, Little Tunnel, Rock Ovens, the Adra Tunnel and Chute Lake. Until late fall 2026, a bridge project at Robinson Creek means a short signed bypass before the Adra Tunnel. The sections on snpink’tn land north-west toward Summerland and south along Skaha Lake to Kaleden have been closed since June 2026 with no reopening date. We update the note on this page monthly.

The Adra Tunnel (about 65 km) and Chute Lake Lodge (about 90 km) are the long days: ride those climbs in Eco and you will have charge for the ride home, which is mostly downhill.

Yes. The Naramata Bench has more than 40 wineries, and several sit right beside the KVR. Most tasting rooms close at 5 pm and the busy ones take reservations in July and August. Pick two or three, order flights, and ride sober.
